How to Use GoPlay11 Player Statistics Effectively
GoPlay11 provides more player data than most fantasy apps. Here is a complete breakdown of every metric available and how to interpret it for better team selection.
The Player Card — What Each Number Means
When you tap a player in the GoPlay11 team builder, a player card expands with the following information:
Fantasy Points Average (FPA): The player's average fantasy points scored per match over the last 10 games. This is your most reliable indicator of consistent value.
Selection Percentage: How many teams in the current match have selected this player. High selection % (above 60%) means the player is a safe pick but offers less competitive advantage. Under 20% indicates a value differential opportunity.
Last Match Score: Exact fantasy points earned in the immediately previous match. Use this alongside FPA, not instead of it — one outlier match does not define a player's value.
Form Graph: A line graph of the player's last 5 fantasy point scores. A rising line indicates improving form; a flat or declining line suggests inconsistency.
Using Selection Percentage Strategically
Selection percentage is one of the most underused data points in fantasy cricket. Here is how to think about it:
- Above 70%: The player is near-universal. Picking them gives you parity with most opponents. Only captain differentiates your team.
- 40–70%: Moderate selection. Picking them is a balanced call — common but not universal.
- Below 20%: Low ownership. If this player has a strong match, you gain significant ground on most of the field. Higher risk, higher reward.
- Pace assistance rating: How much the surface helps fast bowlers, especially early in the innings
- Spin assistance rating: Relevant from the 10th over onward in most venues
- Average first innings score: Helps predict whether batting depth or bowling depth is more valuable in a given match
- Chepauk is spin-dominant → prioritize quality spinners
- CSK has stronger spinners at home → consider CSK's top spinners as captain candidates
- RCB's middle-order batsmen historically struggle against spin at Chepauk → consider under-weighting them relative to their general FPA
- Check form graphs: any CSK batter on a rising trend at this venue becomes a value pick
Build teams with a mix: 6–7 high-ownership safe picks plus 3–4 low-ownership differential picks. This structure gives you a stable base with upside from your unique selections.
Venue Performance Stats
GoPlay11 shows each player's performance specifically at the match venue. A batsman who averages 15 fantasy points at Wankhede may only average 9 at Eden Gardens. Venue-specific stats matter more than overall averages for any given match.
Interpreting the Pitch Report
GoPlay11's pitch report tab shows:
Use this in combination with the match's toss result (once announced) to finalize your team balance.
Practical Example — Applying the Framework
Match: RCB vs CSK at Chepauk (MA Chidambaram Stadium)
This is the analytical process that separates consistent GoPlay11 performers from those who pick by instinct alone.
